After the kick-off edition of 2017, this year is the very first edition of the Umbria Jazz Spring, which will take place in Terni, a city in the south of Umbria.

The #1 edition of the festival is remodeled, perfected, more articulated in the spaces, with some highlights in an original and high-profile artistic program. 

In one word, more ambitious.

UJ Spring will take place from April 27th to 1st May, after the Eastern holidays and during an old traditional and popular performance, the ‘Cantamaggio’ of Terni.

Moreover, April 30th is, on the initiative of UNESCO, the International Jazz Day, the day dedicated worldwide to jazz as a planetary cultural expression and universal language able to bring together people different from each other in history, culture, language and religion.

Umbria Jazz Spring celebrates the IJD 2018 in Terni with a rich program whose highlight will be the jazz show in one of the most evocative natural settings of Umbria and Italy, the Marmore waterfalls.

Five days of festivals, thirty-two events, free and with fees, and thirteen bands with about one hundred artists on the scene.

Umbria Jazz Spring offers to its public an heterogeneous and quality program, starting from two original productions: “Two Island” a new collaboration between Paolo Fresu and the Chamber Orchestra of Perugia,

with the extraordinary artist Giovanni Sollima, composer and cellist of world renown for his original innovations; and a project that Umbria Jazz has entrusted to Gil Goldstein, the historic right-hand man of Gil Evans.

Goldstein has developed a jazz version of the Beatles songs, which he will perform with the Umbria Jazz Orchestra.

Cory Henry, with The Funky Apostles, is rightfully considered a member of that small club of musicians who are giving new life into the more traditional genres such as jazz, gospel, r& b. Cory started playing the church organ when he was two years old. Substantially self-taught, he has reached very high levels of instrumental mastery but above all he has matured, both as a soloist and as a member of Snarky Puppy, with whom he won three Grammys, a personal style well anchored to the roots but at the same time manages to project towards the future of American music.

Umbria Jazz presents in Terni the encounter between Kenny Barron and Dado Moroni: the first is one ofthe most respected American pianists; Moroni is one of the most appreciated and requested Italian jazz pianists in USA.His early talent, which made him enter the jazz world as an enfant prodige, explains the quantity and quality of his collaborations: among others, Ron Carter, Chet Baker, Dizzy Gillespie, Freddie Hubbard, Tom Harrell and Ray Brown.

Established as a band, the individual members of Huntertones claim important collaborations with artists such as Jon Batiste, Snarky Puppy, Ed Sheeran and Ricky Martin.

The Tuscan street band of Funk Off has become very popular with an original and recognizable formula: to overcome the concept of marching band of the New Orleans tradition proposing a fascinating and spectacular, modern and engaging music.

这也不会是没有巴西音乐的翁布里亚爵士音乐节。在翁布里亚爵士音乐节春天与Yamandu Costa（七弦吉他）和Guto Wirtti（低音吉他“baixolão”）组合成了“巴西风情”。

It would not be Umbria Jazz without a space for Brazilian music. At Umbria Jazz Spring comes a "touch of Brazil" with the duo Yamandu Costa (seven-string guitar) and Guto Wirtti ("baixolão", bass guitar).
