昆明场景报道KunmingSceneReport

昆明是中国地下音乐的局外人。慢节奏生活方式和宜人环境为独特的音乐、滑板、艺术文化创造了条件。大量具有歌舞根源的少数民族文化，加上九十年代涌入的新音乐，为摇滚乐在昆明创造了独一无二的环境。

Kunming remains an outlier in the Chinese underground. The slow-paced lifestyle and comfortable environment has conditioned a distinct culture of music, skateboarding and art. Yunnan holds a majority of minority cultures which each have strong roots in music and dance. Combined with the influx of music in the 90’s, this mix created a unique environment for rock and roll.

90年代初，“夸父”乐队组建，成为昆明首个音乐场景的主要煽动者。2005年到2010年，春城先后出现了超过50支乐队。2014年，几个大学生和朋克的折腾之下，昆明音乐活力升级。当地传奇乐队另类金属“大乐透”和旋律后摇四人组“”都组建于这一时期。此后每年都有新乐队登台尝试新的音乐风格，昆明音乐场景持续成长。

In the early 90’s, Kua Fu yuedui got together and were prime instigators in forming the first Kunming music scene. From 2005-2010, more than fifty bands emerged in the spring city. The scene powered on in 2014 by a handful of college kids and local punks. Legendary local bands such as alt-metal band 大乐透 and melodicpost-rock quintet started during this time. The scene continues to expand every year with new bands forming to experiment withnew styles on stage.

昆明虽然没有可以比拟其他中国城市的乐队数量，但这里的舞台上你却可以见到各式音乐风格。

The Kunming scene does not have the volume of bands as other scenes do throughout China. However, the stages in the city are occupied by the whole spectrum of genres.

KAWA是云南最著名的乐队之一。他们将佤族、哈尼族等其他少数民族的传统节奏混入雷鬼音乐，实力强劲。KAWA作为一支乐队的成功来自于他们将古老连复段与现代音乐质感结合的专业素养。KAWA的现场表演既是一次云南身份的古怪表达，又是一场热闹的摇滚演出。现在的KAWA已越过云南界限，在中国各城市包括北京领衔演出。2017，他们还赢得了在Beatles传奇录音棚Abbey Road录音的机会。

One of Yunnan’s most distinguished bands is KAWA. They are a powerful reggae band fueled by Chinese rhythms of 佤族, 哈尼族, and other minority nationalities that link their heritage. KAWA’s success as a band comes from their expert ability to innovate these ancient riffs and melodies with modern music textures. A KAWA show is both an eccentric Yunnan expression of community and a bombastic rock show. KAWA has grown out of Yunnan and headlined shows throughout China, including Beijing. In 2017 they won a distinguished competition to record at legendary BEATLES studio ABBEY ROAD.

硬摇滚团体大乐透发出的则是直率的地下之声，是对狗屎日增的愤怒和厌恶。他们将说唱与funk融入另类金属，并时常用吉他发出引线燃烧般的嗡鸣旋律。2016年，他们发表了首张EP并在中国20城进行巡演。当前他们正在准备最新的专辑并计划着新一轮的中国巡演。

Hard rock group 大乐透(dà lètòu, Big Lottery) transmits a sound straight from the underground, a rising anger and distaste towards the bullshit. They distort alternative metal with rap and funk and the occasional drone of a guitar melody which sounds like the fuse before the bomb. In 2016, they released their first EP and went on a twenty city tour of China.They are currently working on their latest album and are planning another series of shows around China. 

 

五人乐队是一支拥有新迷幻和后朋克元素的独立乐队。他们的演出是连接过去与未来的通道。乐队所产生的动态令人难以捉摸：每件乐器都潜伏在自己精妙的不和谐音之下。最近他们还将funk元素融进了乐队的迷幻根源。

(ān fēi tā mìng, Amphetamine) is a five piece indie rock band that has elements of neo-psychedelia and post-punk. Their shows are a portal between past and future. The dynamics of the band are intangible: each piece should fall under and sink beneath their own delicate cacophony. The band’s psychedelic roots are blending with a more recent adventure incorporating funk elements.

 

PYSCHOMAO是昆明唯一一只rockabilly乐队，他们总是用丝绒长毛和飞机头点燃舞台。他们没有录音作品；不看现场听不到。三个混蛋在昆明和云南创造了最原始生猛的现场。

Kunming’sonly rockabilly band, PYSCHOMAO, electrifies the stage in velvet furs and pompadours. They have no recordings; they are to see live or bust. All three of these motherfuckers are crazy creating some of the rawest performances in Kunming and Yunnan.

弹弹吧(DT Bar)是昆明地下音乐的主要场所。2014年，马图翻修了昆明最老牌的地下音乐场地"老窝"，开办DT Bar。坐落于麻园烧烤街的DT顺理成章成为了当地艺术家和乐手的买醉之地。DT场地旷大，吧台绵长，甚至还有俯瞰舞台的二楼座位，你不仅可以在主厅跳舞也可以到后院乘凉。酒吧的老板深度参与昆明和云南的音乐场景，他们提供的这个夜夜笙歌的场地不仅舒适，还有着古怪邋遢又艺术的装修风格，正如那些前来的艺人。

DT Bar(dàntán bā) is the prime spot for underground in Kunming. Started in 2014,owner MaTu rejuvenated the bar from the remnants of Kunming’s legendary Lao Wo, the longest standing underground venue in the city. Located down a ShaoKao alley on MaYuan, DT has naturally developed into the watering hole for local artists and musicians. DT has a large area inside to dance, a long bar,upstairs seating with a view of the stage and and outdoor patio in the back. The owners are deeply involved in the Kunming and Yunnan music scene, and have provided a venue that is comfortable, has music nightly in a space that is decorated in an off-beat, grungy and artistic style which corresponds well to the artists that come through.

 

MAO livehouse是昆明最著名的场地之一，举办了众多当地外地乐队的演出。顺着楼梯进入地下，场地前方是巨大的舞池，后面是吧台和卡座。MAO的容客量巨大，想买票要提前。

MAO livehouse is one of the most well known venues in Kunming, hosting many local bands and those from outside Yunnan. Stairs lead down into the basement where they have divided the space into a large area to dance near the stage, a bar in the back and also lots of comfortable seating to lounge. MAO can hold quite a few people so get tickets ahead of time.

 

白光白塔与乐空间联合呈现的月度演出每月四晚，其中包括一晚城市（省）主题。在这一晚我们会请地下音乐寡头北京靠边站，欢庆其他城市的蓬勃隐秘、新鲜解放的音乐场景。第一轮演出，我们邀请了四支来自昆明的乐队。吸睛机器“南方酸性咪咪”、醉汗朋克“塑料”、内省二人组CEPHALOSIS、新晋疯鼓贝斯队MAMA TECHNO。别光盯着屏幕纳闷了，3月10日晚9点，乐空间就是昆明。当天门票100元，不设预售，可提前购买4天通票250元。

White Light White Tower has hooked up with YUE Space for a monthly live music series. Of all 4 nights every month, there will be 1 night presenting a certain city(province) theme，during which we will put the tyrannical monopoly Beijing aside for a moment, and celebrate the lively yet hidden, refreshing and liberating scenes all around China. For the first round, we’ve invited 4 amazing bands from Kunming. In the bill are the hype machine ladies from SOUTH ACID MIMI, the drunk sweat punks from PLASTIC, introspective duo CEPHALOSIS and the newly formed drum and bass frenetic explosive MAMATECHNO. Don’t just stare at the screen and wonder about the the Spring City, come visit Yunnan at YUE Space on March 10^th。
