来自法国的Samy Thiébault四重奏，在过去的15年中已经发行了6张专辑。他们探索的命题相当广泛，从2010年专辑《Upanishad ，到2014年《Feast of Friends》中对The Doors的致敬，无一不体现着他们的个性视野。

Samy Thiébault四重奏曾在世界各地登台献演，并将在今年为2016年秋天发行的新专辑《Rebirth》进行法国和中国的巡演。这张专辑犹如一幅激情洋溢的自画像，曲目均来自萨克斯手Samy Thiébault原创。从他的摩洛哥根源和度过了童年时光的西非，到后来乐队常常造访的南美，这些风景给Samy带来了无限的灵感，继而幻化为他们演绎的现代感十足的爵士乐。这张非常个人化、风格化的专辑，是从创作者最私密的音乐素材中汲取营养而结出的硕果，也正如其名字，是一场向生命与音乐致敬的“重生”。他们还邀请到以色列知名小号演奏家Avishai Cohen参与这张专辑的录制。

关于Samy Thiébault

Samy Thiébault出生在科特迪瓦的一个教师家庭，他曾在波尔多音乐学院接受传统音乐教育，之后来到巴黎著名的国立高等音乐学院专修爵士乐。在学习音乐课程之余，他以优异成绩取得了巴黎索邦大学的哲学硕士学位。

相比于其他音乐家，Samy较晚地进入爵士世界，但是他却非常努力。他吹奏的萨克斯音色浑厚有力，却又明朗欢快。通过音乐，他创造了一个只属于他自己的世界。他还常常与舞蹈、戏剧和电影等各个领域的艺术家进行项目合作，同时也在巴黎的Choisy-le-Roi音乐学院担任教授。法国著名爵士吉他手Cristian Escoudé和美国爵士歌手Gregory Porter等出色音乐人都与其有过合作。

Samy Thiébault Quartet - Cansion

Over fifteen years and six albums, this tight-knit French jazz quartet has explored a wide range of subjects, offering their vision of everything from Baudelaire’s poems on their 2010 album “Upanishad Experiences” to the songs of The Doors on 2014's “Feast of Friends”.

Performing original compositions written by the group’s saxophonist Samy Thiébault, the group has toured all over the world and is performing throughout France and in China this year in support of their new project “Rebirth”, out in Fall 2016. The album is like an impassioned self-portrait. The songs are inspired by the saxophonist’s Moroccan origins, by his childhood home of West Africa, and by the landscapes of South America, where the quartet has often played. These places are transfigured in the language of jazz, at once contemporary and modern. The result is a “rebirth” that it is personal and stylized, an affirmation of life and music that draws on the most intimate musical material that Thiébault has to offer. This album is also an opportunity to work with the great trumpeter Avishai Cohen, who has presented at the recording sessions.

About Samy Thiébault

Born in the Ivory Coast to teachers, Samy Thiébault received a traditional musical education at the Conservatoire de Bordeaux before entering the prestigious Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris to study jazz. While studying music, he obtained a Master’s degree in philosophy, with high honors, from the Sorbonne.

Samy came to jazz a little late compared to the others, but he worked like crazy. The saxophone sound of him is very powerful and bright and he has created a world that only belongs to him through his music. He also collaborates regularly on dance, theatre and cinema projects and is a professor at the Choisy-le-Roi conservatory near Paris. He has played with the French jazz guitarist Cristian Escoudé, jazz singer Gregory Porter and many others.
